Here
is a really cool picture of Frank Logan standing in front of his Dad's
1941
Chevrolet Fleetline Sedan.
"This
photo was taken on Christmas Day, 1941, less than three weeks after the
attack on Pearl Harbor. That's me (Frank Logan) on the right (at age of
ten) along with my mother, brother and sister. Our family had recently
purchased the new 1941 Chevrolet Fleetline sedan and my dad installed the
Trippe Safety Lights you see in the photo. In 1949, my dad removed the
lights before trading the car in on a new Packard. Unfortunately, the lights
could not be mounted on the new car, so my dad wrapped them up in rags
and put them in a box in the garage where they remained for 52 years. Trippe
Safety Lights were the premium (and expensive) road lights of their day.
At nearly 8 1/2 inches diameter, the lamps threw a powerful spread of light
onto the road ahead."
This
